Why is it recommended to have your carpets and upholstery cleaned regularly?

If left undisturbed, these contaminants not only affect the appearance of your carpet; they also cause it to wear out faster and, more importantly, they can pose health risks, especially to people with allergies or asthma and to small children who spend a lot of time on the floor.

In the same way, furniture and upholstery should be routinely maintained to retain its original appearance; this includes tending immediately to spills and stains. How often should I have my carpets cleaned?

Cleaning carpets regularly is important if you have asthma, allergies, or other health issues. My Carpet Doctor recommends professional cleaning every 6 to 12 months, depending on level of soiling and whether there are children or pets on the premises.

How long does it take for the carpets to dry?

With the hot water extraction method (steam cleaning), drying time is minimal and depends on the following factors:   

Type of carpet material, weave, and pile

  • Level of soil
  • Air circulation in the home
  • Humidity levels

Most rental machines are unable to provide the superior cleaning you will get from professional equipment. They cannot reach the required high temperature or vacuum strength, and the cleaning product will either be inferior or unable to perform as needed with these machines. Do I need to do anything before the professional technician arrives?

It is recommended to vacuum, remove family heirlooms and smaller items to another area or room.  Larger items that cannot be moved will be discussed upon arrival. 

Noises may frighten children or pets during cleaning. It is recommended to move them to another room while cleaning is in process.

Do you guarantee that you will be able to remove all stains?

The type of stain, the use of consumer-based stain removers, the length of time it has been there, and the type of carpet fibre all affect stain removal results. We are able to remove most stains but, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that they will always come out. We will do what it takes to get the best results, and chances are that if we can’t remove the stain, nobody can.

Do you use child-friendly or pet-friendly products?

Child-friendly and pet-friendly products are available upon request. Please be sure to specify ahead of time if you would like our technician to use these.

Will You Remove My Furniture For Me?

We advise customers to move any large items of furniture from the areas you wish to have cleaned. We do not move televisions, wardrobes or any other large items. We can work round items that are not movable.   

Please move any delicate objects from the room that is being cleaned. Ornaments and such should be moved off side boards to a safe place.

Please ask when making a booking what we can and can’t assist with in terms of furniture.
